SPORTS INJURIES
Precise clinical examintation and diagnosis are essential for a successful treatment of any sports injury. Dr. Hardeman is a specialist in:
GrastonTechnique
(www.grastontechnique.com) and
Active Release Technique (ART)
Both of these techniques are used by many professional sports teams. If needed Dr. Thomas or one of the Physician Assistants is here to provide cortisone injections or pain medication if needed.
Graston Technique and Active Release Technique work on the premise of breaking up scar tissue (and/or adhesions) that prevent fluid movement of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and surrounding tissues. When you feel tight, or have pain with movement, you are most likely experiencing the binding effect of scar tissue. As scar tissue builds up your muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons cause tendonitis and nerves can become trapped. This can cause reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and pain. If a nerve is trapped you may also feel tingling, numbness, and weakness.
